Kelloggs Upper Entrance Area

The second entrance area was for members of staff who were to have a visitor to the plant and needed to have an informal meeting. This was achieved by creating an small circular space within the original area and high llighting this area by using the floor covering to emphasise the shape and position of the new meeting room. This area also included a audio visual area to communicate corporate information and performance.

Once again technical design information was produced alongside the concept boards covering the construction and setting out of the meeting room, proposed floor covering and proposed lighting.

Kelloggs Lower Entrance Area Wall Treatments

I produced drawings showing the layout of the wall coverings which acted as a aid for both the client to be able to visualise the finished design and for contractors to be able to produce accurate quotes for the specialist areas.

Kelloggs Lower Entrance Area Plans

As well as concept boards I produced detailed drawings showing such things as lighting layouts, ceiling plans, floor plans and details for the feature wall and setting out drawings for the floor coverings.

Kelloggs Lower Entrance Area

I was asked to produce schemes for the two entrance areas at the Kellogg's factory in Traford Park, Manchester. The first area was to be the main staff entrance which was via the basement off the internal circulation road. With this being a food production site and this being the main point of contact with any potential containment's from the external environment special attention was given to areas which could trap dirt and germs. Wall and floor coverings had to be able to be cleaned effectivly on a daily basis, and yet keep there initial appearance. The area was also to be used to communicate corporate information to visitors and staff. This was done by installing a feature wall, using character branding images and audio visual equipment to convey both corporate information and site production information and targets.

Abbey Gate College

Abbey Gate College is a private school in Cheshire. One of the several projects I have undertaken for them is to up-date the main entrance to the upper school building. The upper school is listed and as a result as sensitive approach was required to satisfy the local authority and meet the needs of the school. The above image shows a concept board I put together to give an outline of our initial proposals. This was very well received and will form the new development when the works come on line next in 2012.

Kingsmead - Services

As with most projects of this size attention has to be given to the services required to operate such a development. The design of any supporting element, no matter how small or to be view by however many people, must be given the appropriate level of attention and design. One of these areas is the recycling store. This was designed to reflect elements of the main building, roof and brick work, and to introduce other open natural elements, here open timber trusses.

Kingsmead - External Elevations

Externally the elevations where designed to give residents access to the outside with the use of balconies in the majority of apartments and large picture windows, glazed screens and patio doors in the communal areas and accommodation at ground level.

Kingsmead - Apartments

The project at Kingsmead was to construct two blocks of apartments based on a modular system. The main block was to be 4 storey and include the office administration centre for the development, recreational areas, dining room and lounge along with the extra-care elements of assisted bath and bathing facilities, treatment rooms and staff over night accommodation. The second block was to be 3 storey and include the majority of facilities included in the main block except the dining area. In both blocks each apartment would be self contained giving the residents the opportunity to be as independent as possible.

Kingsmead

This project was for Wulvern, and was to design extra-care apartments in Northwich. The site was adjacent to a water way with the main access being through an existing modern housing estate.

The Chapel on the Mount

I designed this fire place as part of a private commision to convert an old chapel into a dwelling. The fire place used an existing flue but everything else was new with the materials being sourced from specialist manufactures.
